I'm in love with vintage lingerie. I, especially, love pink! It's so feminine and adds such a romantic charm when hung on an old room divider. Be on the look out for it at thrift stores. You can still pick them up for a great price!

Tea Party Hats

I love, love, love Vintage Hats! I was so excited when I found the perfect hat stand so I could display them all. Now, when I have tea parties, it's easy for my guests to choose a hat of their choice. Don't ever think you have to spend a lot on hats. In antique stores they can run $20 - $30, but at yard sales, you can pick them up cheap! One of my favorite hats was only $2.00. Be patient and you can have a collection like mine before you know it.

"Rose"

I'd like to introduce you to "Rose". She's an old dress form mannequin I bought at a yard sale from a man that got her out of an old dress shop that was being demolished. I fell in love with her Shabby appearance. When I got her home, I heard a rattling sound inside of her. I turned her over and shook, and a set of old keys fell out that were hidden inside. I loved her even more! I paired her up with a vintage wedding dress that another man found in the rafters of a house he bought and didn't want. Finally, I accessorized her with some jewelry I found at yard sales. I placed her in my bedroom, next to a vintage sofa and I think she looks lovely and will continue to ignore my friend that says "Rose" reminds her of "The Haunted Mansion" at Disneyland. ;)

Mirrored Wall

Wow, has it been forever since I last was here! My kiddos have grown up so much since the last time I posted. I have a 16 yr. old, a 15 yr. old, a 13 yr. old and an 11 yr. old, now. Time sure does fly! Thought I'd post a picture of one of my favorite walls in my house. This is in my bedroom. I found this romantic vintage sofa on Craigslist. I snatched it up for $20.00! The wall was very plain above it, so I made it my mission to scour yard sales and thrift stores for old mirrors. All of the ones pictured were $10.00 or less. Some being free thanks to my sweet Mother-in-law, who blessed me with a few. I also found a $2.00 small shelf at a yard sale and added one of my favorite tea cups to add a bit of color to the wall. I love how it turned out and am considering going all of the way to the top of the ceiling. What do you think?

It's a real Mystery...

We live in a rural area of Southern California. Everyone I know has pets, whether it be dogs, horses, cows, chickens, cats, etc... Well, I am not a pet person. I think it started as a child. I was probably the only little girl that didn't want a pony. I always liked to stay clean and was much happier indoors reading a book or watching t.v. Well, when my sister wanted a pony, I ended up with one too. Then there was the job of cleaning the corral, brushing the pony, cleaning it's hooves..ugh. For a little girl that didn't like to be dirty, this was no fun! When the time came for us to sell the pony, I was happy. Well, my happiness was short lived because very soon, my sister wanted a bigger pony. When we went to go buy her one that was for sale, the owner said the pony was in love with another pony and she really wanted them to go together. So, guess who ended up with another pony? Ugh....
Fast forward 28 years....I have four kiddos now and what do kiddos want? Pets! So I bought fish. My youngest son complained that you couldn't pet fish. They wanted something they could hold in their hands. We moved up to hamsters. Okay, not so bad. They're in the kiddos rooms, afterall. But one day, my son saw me on the computer and a picture of a bunny came up. He begged for a bunny. He's the only one that doesn't have a hamster, so I finally relented and got him a dwarf bunny. We named her "Tippy" since she immediately tipped her food over once we put it in the cage. With Tippy, something changed inside of me. I could sit outside and watch her in her cage hopping around and felt peaceful. So what did I do? I went and got the girls a bunny too! The girls named her "Mystery" and she is the sweetest bunny. We let her out of her cage to hop around in the backyard and we laugh and laugh, as she throws her back legs up, jumping gleefully around. And guess what? I even clean out the cages once awhile and it doesn't even bother me. I'm not sure what has happend to me, it's a real mystery.

Fourth of July Fun!

We had such a fun Fourth of July, spent with friends and family. We did our first "Progressive" Fourth of July. First, my house for a BBQ, games and swimming. Then off to my Mom and Dad's for Salad and Bread. Next to my brother's for a Yummy Mexican Dinner. Finally, we were off to my Sister's for Dessert and Fireworks! I think we may have started a new family tradition. :)

The Boys Playing Football...even the little ones were in on the action!
